Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, Sept 18 at 8:15 a.m.
We have lots of new neoprene jackets and spring-suits on the floor, so come get one as it starts to cool off in the coming weeks.
Surf at the Pier is averaging thigh-to-waist high with a stomach high set. Rarely, there is a rib-high set.
Winds are south/south-east at 10 to 15 knots, and surf is choppy and kind of closing out at the morning’s low tide.
Look for south-west winds at 10 to 15 knots today, and surf will have some side-shore chop in it all day.
Tide is low this morning at 9:13 a.m., and high tide will be at 3:54 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:06 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft. at 6 seconds in a mix of medium period east/south-east ground swell and short period south-west wind swell.
We see south-westerly wind swell over south-easterly ground swell today at Folly averaging waist high with a plus set as the tide comes in. We have a frontal passage overnight, and we see surf fade Wednesday, with some clean waist high leftovers for the longboard Wednesday morning. High angled north-east wind chop should fill in on Thursday, before surf drops to end the work week. Some of the sand has moved around at The Washout, but it’s still not breaking NEAR as well as the Pier.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak surface trough will slowly progress through the area today, then push offshore into early Wednesday. High pressure will then prevail over the region through the weekend and into early next week.”
It’s 76* and cloudy this morning. Look for a high of 91* with a 50% chance of rain and some sun behind clouds today.
Water temperature is 85*.
Sunset is at 7:21 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:05 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
