Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, September 29 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout this morning are thigh-to-waist high with rare slightly bigger set. It is breaking punchy and kind of fast at the Washout, still. There is a better line at the Pier, but the waves are softer.
There are thunderstorms in the area this morning, and winds are variable. Surf zone is clean early.
Expect easterly winds at 5 to 10 knots this afternoon, adding side shore chop to the surf zone.
High tide will be at 11:11 a.m., and low tide will be at 5:38 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.
Look for some long period ground swell to start filtering in from Post Tropical Cyclone Leslie located in the Central Atlantic Sunday. This long period swell should build some during the work week. We will see an increasing east/north-east wind swell component in the mix chopping up the surf late Sunday into Monday. Winds abate some mid-week, and ground swell surf should clean up some for the middle of the work week. So, we should have some fun, small ground swell in the water next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak cold front will slowly drop through the area this weekend, followed by high pressure for much of next week.”
It’s 78* with rain and thunderstorms in the area this morning. Look for a high of 87* today and thunderstorms on-and-off today.
Water temperature is 83*.
Sunset is at 7:11 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:09 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
