Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, April 2 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is knee to waist-to -stomach high with chest high sets in an east/north-east wind swell. It is soft at the morning’s high tide, but looks fun.
Winds are north/north-east at 20 to 25 knots. And surf zone is side-shore and semi-clean, with lots of drift down the beach.
Winds rotate north for mid-afternoon, then north-west late. Winds will still be strong until late today.
We are coming off a high tide, and low tide will be at 12:55 p.m. The next high tide will be at 7:06 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 11.5 ft at 8 seconds in an easterly wind swell.
We see a coastal low affect our marine area late today. This will push in east swell with strong north-east to north winds creating drift down the beach. Winds will go north, then north-west, as surf cleans up late today. There should be some swell in the water all day, fading late day. Swell fades out on Wednesday and Thursday, before we see swell rotate more on-shore as our next frontal system approaches the beach Friday into Saturday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A coastal storm will impact the region today. High pressure will
then prevail until late week when another storm system will affect the area followed by another one early next week.”
It’s a chilly 50* with rain this morning. Look for rain to let-off this afternoon with some clouds and sun late day and a high of only 57*.
Water temperature is around 60*.
Sunrise is around 7:05 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:40 p.m.
