Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, July 24 at 6:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee-to-thigh high with a waist set. Winds are off-shore, and surf is clean. It is closing out at the morning’s low tide. It shows potential, but you might want to wait until the tide comes in some mid-morning.
Winds are north at 10 knots, and surf zone is side-shore, but clean with nice lines.
Look for winds to pick-up north-east at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon, adding side-shore chop and drift in the surf zone.
Low tide is at 7:26 a.m., and high tide will be at 1:46 p.m. The next low tide is at 7:52 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.9 ft. at 7 seconds in a medium period south/south-east swell.
There is some south swell at the buoy this morning, and we see fun surf this morning in the waist-to-stomach high range with clean conditions after a cold-front passage overnight. Surf should be best on the incoming tide this morning. Look for north-east winds this afternoon and side-shore chop later today as surf fades out some on the lower tide late day. The frontal boundary that passed overnight stays stalled offshore Thursday and Friday, and we see continued small, rideable surf Thursday, with moderate north-east winds this week and small but rideable east swell. Surf drops off some Friday and into the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will stall offshore through late week, while high pressure builds inland. High pressure will then prevail over the weekend into early next week.”
It’s 80* with sun and clouds this morning. Look for sun today and a high of 88* with thunderstorm likely today.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:24 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:26 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
