Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Tuesday, August 6th at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is thigh to waist high. There might be a slightly larger set, and it looks fun. The wind could mess it up later this morning.
Winds are light from the west this morning, and surf is very clean. It’s closing out a bit at the morning’s lower tide.
Look for south winds at 10 to 15 knots this afternoon, and we’ll have choppy surf later in the day.
We are coming off a low tide at sunrise, and high tide will be at 1:21 p.m. The next low tide will be at 7:20 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.3 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period south-east swell, with a south-west wind swell 1.6 ft at 4 seconds.
A few small waves for the longboard glide this morning as the tide comes in, with clean conditions. We see see reinforcing trade swell fill in Wednesday through Friday as high pressure over the Central Atlantic keeps south winds blowing a trade-wind swell in our direction. As a trough sets up inland, expect south-west winds to add some bump and chop to the mid-week swell, with cleaner morning sessions and choppy afternoon sessions. Surf looks to drop off some for the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak surface trough will prevail inland while high pressure persists across the Atlantic mid to late week. A cold front will approach from the north this weekend.”
It’s 77* with sunny skies this morning. Look for a high of 86* today with a 30% chance of a thunderstorm.
Water temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:36 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:13 p.m.
