Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for The Fourth of July 2018 at 8 a.m.
We hope that everyone has a safe and happy Fourth of July Holiday.
Surf at the Washout is around knee to thigh high in easterly wind swell.
There should be a bigger set and the surf should have better form as the tide comes in mid-morning.
Winds are east at 5 to 10 knots with rain showers and thunderstorms in the area, and surf zone is semi-choppy and closing out a bit at the morning’s low tide.
Look for easterly winds at 15 knots this afternoon chopping up the surf zone, but wind should be variable in numerous thunderstorms.
Tide is coming in, and will be high at 12:41 p.m. Low tide will be at 6:38 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 ft. at 6 seconds in a dominantly short period east/south-east wind swell.
We see small south-easterly wind-swell/ground-swell combo for your Fourth of July holiday as a low-pressure trough moves on shore brining rain and some rideable waves today. Small, longboardable easterly wind swell looks to continue but fade some for Thursday morning, before surf falls off again for Friday.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “An Atlantic trough will impact the area through tonight. A cold front will approach the area late in the week, remaining nearby into early next week.”
It’s 76* and cloudy with showers this morning. Look for a high of 86* today with rain and thunderstorms on and off all day.
Water temperature is 86*.
Sunset is at 8:31 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:16 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
