Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, February 9 at 8:30 a.m.
Come check out our wetsuit sale. All full-suits marked down at least 20% and you’ll need one for the next two months.
We are planning to hold the Icebox Open on a weekend with some good waves sometime after Valentine’s Day, so keep an out for the big cold-water showdown!
Surf at the Washout this knee to thigh high. There is a waist set.
It is drained out at the morning’s low tide, but could get better form as the tide comes in.
Winds are north-east at 10 to 15 knots, and surf is choppy.
We see easterly winds at 10 to 15 this afternoon, and choppy surf all day.
Low tide is at 9:06 a.m. high tide will be at 3 p.m. and the next low tide is at 9:12 pm.
Edisto buoy is reading 6.2 ft. at 6 seconds in a combination of short-period east/north-east wind swell and easterly swell 2.6 ft. at 10 seconds.
We see semi-choppy to choppy north-east wind waves building a bit for Friday afternoon average thigh to waist high with a possible bigger set on the incoming tide late morning. We have a good chance for some rideable, bumpy southerly wind swell as moderate winds rotate on-shore – east to south-east – Saturday into Sunday as a warm front lifts north. Sunday should be the bigger day, with a bit more southerly chop in the surf zone. We see rideable trade-wind swell at the beach to begin your next work week Monday into Tuesday, so there is some surf of varying size and quality in the forecast into early next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure to the north will shift east today, as a warm front develops to the south, then lifts north of the area tonight. A cold front to the northwest will shift closer to the area over the weekend, before moving through early next week. High pressure will return for the latter half of the week.”
It is partly cloudy and 55* this morning. Look for a high of 63* with rain developing this afternoon.
Water temperature is right around 53*.
Sunset is at 5:55 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:10 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
