Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, February 8 at 8:10 a.m.
Come check out our wetsuit sale. All full-suits marked down at least 20% and you’ll need one for the next two months.
We are planning to hold the Icebox Open on a weekend with some good waves sometime after Valentine’s Day, so keep an out for the big cold-water showdown!
Surf at the Washout this thigh to waist high (occ. plus), and could push a stomach high set as the tide comes in mid-morning.
It is drained out at the morning’s low tide, but could get better form as the tide comes in.
Winds are west/north-west at 10 knots, and surf is nice and clean.
We see strong north-west winds at 15 to 20 knots this afternoon, and this should keep surf zone clean, but will likely push down the surf.
We are coming off a low tide this morning. We have a high tide at 2:04 p.m., and a low tide will be at 8:08 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 4.3 ft. at 7 seconds in a combination of south wind swell and south-east medium period swell.
Winds increase north-west today, pushing against the south-east swell that developed yesterday evening, so go surf mid-morning if you can. East/north-east wind swell develops overnight, and we see semi-choppy east wind waves for Friday average waist high with a possible bigger set. We have a good chance for some rideable, bumpy southerly wind swell as moderate winds rotate on-shore – east to south-east – Saturday into Sunday as a warm front lifts north. We see rideable trade-wind swell in the water to begin your next work week, so there is some surf of varying size and quality in the forecast into early next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will move offshore this morning with high pressure to build in briefly through tonight. A warm front will develop to the south Friday, lifting north of the area Friday night. A cold front to the northwest will bring periods of unsettled weather to the area as it drifts closer by through early next week, before moving into or through the area by mid week. Another cold front could approach late next week.”
It is cloudy and 59* this morning. Look for a high of 59* and some clouds clearing this afternoon after a cold front moves off-shore.
Water temperature is right around 53*.
Sunset is at 5:55 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:10 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
