Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, July 6 at 8 a.m.
We have a new batch of Stewart Surfboards coming in late next week, so come check them out.
Surf at the Washout is around knee high.
Winds are north-north-west at 5 knots, and surf is clean early this morning. We see winds from the south-east this afternoon at 5 to 10 knots and surf should be bumpy today, but it’s very small.
We have a low tide at 8:06 a.m., and a high tide will be at 2:22 p.m. The next low tide is at 8:34 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.
Surf looks small for the weekend averaging knee to thigh high. Some models are showing that a cold front could stall to our east over the weekend and spin up a tropical low pressure just to our north-and-east. Hopefully this low could send in some surf to our beaches early next week. We also have a Tropical Storm Beryl in the Central Atlantic, but the storm is expected to see some shear as it moves westward towards the Lesser Antilles. Either way, the tropics are beginning to awaken, and hopefully this 6-week flat spell will end here next week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak pressure pattern will reside over the area today. A cold front will shift into the area on Saturday, gradually dropping south of the area Sunday. High pressure will then build over the region for much of next week while low pressure passes offshore.”
It’s 83* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 87* today with a 40% chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon.
Water temperature is 86*.
Sunset is at 8:31 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:18 a.m.
