Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, November 2 at 8:15 a.m.
With the time change, we will move into our winter hours on Monday. We will be open from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. everyday. Closing at 5 p.m. on Sundays.
Waves at the pier this morning are running waist high with chest high sets.
Winds are west/south-west at 5 to 8 knots, and surf is pretty clean early this morning.
We expect surf to get choppy as the tide comes in. South west winds late morning at 10 to 15 knots increase to 20 to 25 knots as a cold front approaches.
We have a low tide at 9:46 a.m., and a high tide will be at 4:09 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:28 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 6.6 ft. at 7 seconds in south wind swell.
South-west winds increase dramatically this afternoon, making for crossed up, choppy south-wind swell in the waist-to-chest high range with lots of drift up the beach. Saturday morning sees strong north winds and cooler temperatures with some quickly-dropping, cleaner leftover south wind-swell. We do expect some unsettled weather late Sunday into Monday as a trough forms near the coast. Look look for a combination of bumpy east swell and south trade wind swell through the middle of next week. There looks to be some wave to ride late-day Sunday and into the work week.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A cold front will move through this evening followed by high pressure through Saturday night. A trough of low pressure will bring unsettled weather to the area Sunday afternoon through Tuesday. A cold front will move through early Wednesday, followed by high pressure through Friday.”
It’s 72* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 75* and thunderstorms this afternoon as a cold front approaches our area.
Water temperature is now 68*.
Sunset is at 6:30 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:35 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
