Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, October 26 at 8:30 a.m.
Water temperature is dropping with these cooler temps, so pop in to grab a new vest, spring or full suit. We have lots of neoprene on the floor at Ocean Surf Shop. Come check it out. Waves at the pier this morning are averaging waist to chest high in east wind swell running down the beach. Surf looks like it’s building and watch the flags for potential afternoon cleanup.
Winds are east-southeast at 20 to 23 knots. Surf is choppy and drifty, moving north to south.
We expect strong south-east winds at 20+ knots this afternoon, and building wind swell today. Again as the front moves through watch for winds to rotate in more favorable direction.
We have a high tide at 9:24 a.m., and a low tide will be at 3:47 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:49 p.m. The Edisto buoy is reading 5.6 ft. at 5 seconds in a short period, building south-east wind swell. We have building surf in the water this morning, looks manageable but would be worth a look later this afternoon. A low-pressure system is impacting our marine area today, and south-easterly wind swell is on the rise. Surf should drop some Saturday as winds shift offshore Friday night. Could be worth a look early Saturday Am as they are calling for favorable winds and dropping wind-swell. There is a low out SE of Bermuda to keep your eyes on for next week as well. Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure will move over the area this afternoon and a coldfront will push offshore tonight. High pressure will prevail thisweekend. A weak cold front will move through the area Monday, followed by high pressure through the middle of next week. Afront should approach the region towards the end of next week..”
It’s a 70* and cloudy mixed with rain this morning.. Look for a high of 76* and cloudy/rainy conditions today.
Water temperature is now 72*, and it’s dropping fast. Get some neoprene if you are planning to surf this upcoming north-east swell.
Sunset is at 6:33 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:32 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
