Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, October 25 at 8:30 a.m.
Water temperature is dropping with these cooler temps, so pop in to grab a new vest, spring or full suit. We have lots of neoprene on the floor at Ocean Surf Shop. Come check it out.
Waves at the pier this morning are averaging knee high with a rare thigh high in a high-angled north-east wind swell running down the beach. Surf looks like it’s building.
Winds are north/north-east at 15 to 18 knots. Surf is semi-clean and drifty, moving north to south.
We expect north-east winds at 15 knots this afternoon, and building wind swell today.
We have a high tide at 8:43 a.m., and a low tide will be at 3:02 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:08 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 4.3 ft. at 5 seconds in a short period, building north-east wind swell, pushing against an east/south-east swell 1.6 ft. at 8 seconds.
We have small surf in the water this morning, but we do expect high-angled north-east wind swell to begin building just a bit on the high tide late day. A low-pressure system begins to impact our marine area today, and easterly wind swell rotates more south-easterly. Surf should build some on Friday as short period wind swell switches more on-shore. We expect south winds and bumpy surf on Friday. Hopefully the wind will switch off-shore late afternoon on Friday, cleaning up the surf. Small leftovers will be the story Saturday morning, before the surf goes flat to end the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Low pressure will impact the area tonight through Friday night. A weak cold front will push through the area Monday and be followed by high pressure into the middle of next week.”
It’s a 55* and cloudy this morning.. Look for a high of 70* and cloudy conditions today.
Water temperature is now 72*, and it’s dropping fast. Get some neoprene if you are planning to surf this upcoming north-east swell.
Sunset is at 6:35 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:31 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
