Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, April 8 at 8:30 a.m.
We have LOTS of new spring merchandise at the shop, so come on by and see what’s new for spring. We also have spring suits and wet-suit jackets as the water temperature should rise in the next few weeks.
Surf at the Washout is ankle to knee and weak overall. It is VERY foggy this morning, and it’s hard to see anything.
Winds are very light from the south, and surf is clean. Winds increase from the south all day, building 15 to 20 this afternoon and chopping up the surf.
High tide is this morning at 10:35 a.m. and low tide will be at 4:32 p.m. The next high tide will be at 10:46 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period east swell with a shorter south wind swell mixed in.
We see building south wind-swell late afternoon with choppy conditions this afternoon. Looking ahead into the work week, we see a low depart off our coast on Tuesday this should result in a slight increase in choppy SE swell for Tuesday. Look for the surf to drop off mid-week before we see a cold front pass through late week bringing in another quick shot of south wind-swell. So, we have some rideable surf in the forecast this week, but nothing special.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A low pressure system will approach from the west today and tonight, then cross the area Tuesday into Tuesday night. High pressure will return for mid to late week. A weakening cold front will push into the region early in the weekend, before another storm system impacts the area early next week.”
It’s 66* with dense fog. Look for fog today with clouds this afternoon with a high temp of 74*.
Water temperature is around 63*.
Sunrise is around 6:57 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:44 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
