Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, July 29 at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is knee to thigh high. There is a waist high set. Not too bad for some summer surf this morning.
Winds are north/north-east at 5-10 knots, resulting in clean conditions early.
Look for winds to rotate and pick up from the east at 10 to 12 knots through late morning into the afternoon hours, with choppier surf late in the day.
We have a low tide at 11:52 a.m., and a high tide will be at 6:20 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 9 seconds in a medium period east/south-east swell.
There is a little swell out there this morning. Hopefully it’ll hold through the low tide and into the afternoon. Surf looks small for most of your work week. A small low embedded in a tropical wave in the Central Caribbean could develop mid-week and has potential to push in some swell late Saturday into Sunday next week, depending on its development. There is also a tropical wave off the coast of Africa to keep an eye on for long term. The tropics are heating up, so hopefully we’ll be surfing soon.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will remain centered over the southern Appalachians while a stationary front persists over Florida through today. High pressure should then give way to a weak area of low pressure over the Coastal Plain mid to late week. Unsettled weather arrives this weekend between low pressure over land and high pressure across the western Atlantic.”
It’s 78* with sunny cloudy skies this morning. Look for a high of 87* today with sun and a few clouds.
Water temperature is around 85*.
Sunrise is at 6:31 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:22 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
