Pier December 28th

choppy, disorganized

Time of Report: 8:30 a.m.
Wave Forecast: chest-shoulder +
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: strong drift

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, December 28 at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at the Pier this morning are running in the shoulder to head high range.

Winds are S at 15 knots, really chopping up the surf zone this morning.  There are still makeable sections, but the surf is pretty sea sick this morning.

Expect winds to remain from the S today at up to 20 knots with a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

High tide will be at 12:25 p.m., and low tide will be at 6:42 p.m.  The Edisto buoy is reading 10.8 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period SSE wind/swell combo. Definitely seeing swell moving in this morning.  Unfortunately wind is a factor out there and waves are disorganized with a substantial amount of drift.  Only two people out at the pier this morning, but what they’re catching looks fun.  Fog is lifting off as we speak, and we may even see the sun for a little bit this morning. If you’re up for a workout, get out there while the air temp is relatively warm as we see a cold front push through the area tonight through tomorrow with a chance for smaller but cleaner surf for Saturday.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A warm front will move north of the area this morning. A cold front will then push into the region tonight, stalling in the vicinity through Saturday. The front will then lift back north early next week. Another slow moving cold front should bring impacts to the area by the middle of next week.

The fog is starting to lift this morning and it’s 67*.  Look for a high of 70* with thunderstorms this afternoon.

Water temperature is around 55*.

Sunrise is around 7:21 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:22 p.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
