Good morning, this is Luke with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday December 27 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at the Washout this morning are knee to waist high, in choppy ENE wind-swell.
Winds are East North East at a steady 16 knots. This wind is making the surf zone choppy.
Look for winds to begin rotating more South East later today as the front approaches closer to our area.
High tide will be at 12:01 P.m., and low tide will be at 5:55 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 5.9 ft. at 4.5 seconds in a short period North East wind swell.
A cold front stalls over our area on Thursday, when a warm front begins to lift north. This is currently pushing in building north east wind-swell in the knee to waist high range. Look for this swell to build into Friday and begin to rotate more from the south. Winds may be an issue Thursday into Friday as harder south winds are forecasted before backing off on Saturday as the swell slowly begins to fade. Either way lots of surf in our forecast to work off the holiday weight gains.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A warm front will develop over the area today, then lift north tonight. A cold front will push through the region late Friday before another front stalls near the area Saturday and persists into next week.”
It’s a mild morning with some patchy fog currently 54 degrees with a high in the mid 60s
Water temperature is 57*.
Sunrise is around 7:19 a.m. and sunset will be at 5:18 p.m.
Hope you all had a great holiday. Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
