Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Monday, October 1st at 8:30 a.m.

Waves at The Pier this morning are stomach high with a frequent chest high wave. Waves are closing out for the most part, but you can still hop on a nice long shoulder as the tide starts to fill in.

Winds are NNE at 15 knots, and the surf zone is side-shore and textured.

We see increasing north-east winds today blowing up to 20 knots by this afternoon.

Tide is coming in. High tide will be at 1:02 p.m. and low tide will be at 7:34 p.m.  The Edisto buoy is reading 5.6 ft. at 5.3 seconds in a medium period south-east ground swell with ENE wind.   Tropical Storm Leslie is floating around in the Central Atlantic to our east. We see some long period swell building today and building during the work week as Leslie moves WSW at 5 mph.  Current max. winds are 60 mph. Winds calm down for the second half of the week and ground swell surf should continue to fill in at a better angle. We should have some semi-choppy surf to ride for the next several days.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will build over the area and remain the dominant weather feature through next weekend.”

It’s 72* with sun this morning. Expect a nice day with a high of 83* and sun.

Water temperature is 82*.

Sunset is at 7:04 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:14 a.m.
