semi-choppy
Good Morning. This is Chad with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report for Saturday, August 12 at 8:30 a.m.
Waves at The Washout are waist to stomach high with chest high sets.
Winds are SW at 5 to10 knots, surf is kinda bumpy and semi-choppy.
We expect south-west winds at 5-10 knots this afternoon and surf continues bumpy and semi-choppy later in the day.
The first high tide will be at 11:45 a.m. Low tide will be at 5:53 p.m.
Edisto Buoy is reading 5.2 ft. at 6.7 seconds in ESE/SE swell and S windswell.
Surf looks fun this morning as the tide rolls in, averaging waist high with a stomach to chest high set in semi-choppy conditions. We do expect continued swell this weekend as a low pressure system moves just south of our marine area and produces some wind and storms just to our south. We also continue to monitor a low near the Northern Leeward Islands that could enhance easterly swell late in the weekend and early into next week. Winds trend south for the weekend, and surf should be bumpy/semi-choppy for the period.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak area of low pressure off the north Florida coast today will move north along the Georgia Coast tonight. The area will then remain situated between an inland trough and Atlantic high pressure through the weekend. A cold front will approach the area early next week. It is 83* with partly cloudy skies this morning. Expect partly cloudy skies today and a high of 86* with a 40% chance of rain.
Sunset is at 8:09 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:39 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
