Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, March 30 at 8:30 a.m.
Our friends at Secula Surfboards will be having a board demo at The Washout this morning at 11 a.m., so head on out and try out some sick boards from local shaper Tim Jump.
Waves at The Washout knee-to-thigh high with a waist high set as the tide heads out this morning. Best for a high-volume board, but it is rideable.
Winds are south at 5 to 10 knots, and surf zone is bumpy and semi-choppy.
Winds should be variable at 5 to 10 knots until later this afternoon, when we see south winds at 10 knots adding some bump to the surf zone.
Low tide is at 10:39 a.m., and high tide will be at 4:40 p.m. The next low tide is at 10:52 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.9 ft at 10 seconds in an east ground swell.
Surf looks rideable with a high-volume board this morning with some thigh to waist high waves and nice conditions at the beach. It could pick up early afternoon as the tide comes in. Looking ahead this swell continues to decline throughout the weekend although should stay rideable before we see our next wave maker early next week. We see a coastal low affect our marine area Monday and Tuesday, and some more choppy north-east swell is predicted to start the work week with some colder temperatures.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “Warm high pressure will prevail into Sunday. A cold front will then move through late Sunday, followed by a coastal storm which will produce much below normal temperatures and some showers Monday and Tuesday. Warmer and drier high pressure will then build over the region until late week when another cold front could affect the area.”
It’s 57* with sun behind the clouds this morning. Look for clouds with some sun this afternoon with a high of 72*
Water temperature is around 61*.
Sunrise is around 7:13 a.m. and sunset will be at 7:36 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
