Saturday October 6th Pier

long period, clean

Time of Report: 8:15 a.m.
Wave Forecast: stomach +
Traffic: none
Parking: plenty
Dangers: crowds!

Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Saturday, October 6 at 8:15 a.m.

We have a large selection of 1 mm and 2 mm neoprene jackets and spring suits here at the shop. Come pick one up because it’s getting a bit chilly for these early morning sessions, and the waves should be good this week and into next.

Waves at The Pier this morning are stomach to chest high. With such a long period, there’s  bit of waiting but the sets looks like a ton of fun. As the tide starts to back out, expect it to close out a bit more.

Winds are NW at 5 knots, and surf is clean.

Winds are expected to switch from the SE this afternoon remaining around 5 knots.

We have a low tide at 12:02 a.m., and a high tide will be at 6:22 p.m. The Edisto buoy is reading 3.3 ft. at 12 seconds in long-period east/south-east ground swell.  There is swell at the buoy, and should be some waves all day.  Tropical Storm Leslie will begin heading back East today in the weekend, taking with it the majority of this ground swell we’ve been seeing all week. Look for clean, long period to last into tomorrow morning. We see a strong, punchy east/south-east trade-wind swell fill in Monday and build through the middle of next week, with easterly winds adding chop to waist to chest high wind swell. There is plenty of surf in the forecast, so wax up and get on it.

Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail into the middle of next week while tropical low pressure over the western Caribbean Sea moves north through the Gulf of Mexico, likely moving onshore along the northern Gulf Coast late next week.”

It’s 74* with sun this morning. Expect a hot day with a high of 90* and sun.

Water temperature is 82*.

Sunset is at 6:58 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:16 a.m.

Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
