Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Sunday, September 2 at 8:15 a.m.
We’ll be having a Labor Day Sale today through Monday with 25% off apparel, sunglasses, footwear and more. We’ll also have $75 off any Tim Jump Secula surfboard in the shop. Come see us at the beach this weekend.
Keep in mind beach re-nourishment has taken place at the Washout, but it has moved south, so the Washout is open. The Washout is breaking pretty strange (it seems), so might want to head west toward the Pier to get some better surf.
Surf at the Washout this morning is knee to thigh high with a waist high set. It’s breaking close to the beach in a closeout with all that new sand. There is some swell, it’s just not really working at the ’Shout at low tide.
Winds are east down the beach at 10 knots, and surf is semi-choppy.
Look winds to remain light out of the east today around 5-10 knots with variable winds in isolated thunderstorms this afternoon. Surf will be semi-choppy today.
We are coming off a low tide early this morning, and high tide will be at 1:19 pm. The next low tide will be at 7:48 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3 ft. at 9 seconds in a south-east swell.
There is some swell at the buoy this morning, so surf should be OK on the incoming tide. There is a tropical wave moving west of the Bahamas that should create the slightest bit of swell off-shore for the next few days. Winds trend east this week, so there will be a wind swell component at the beach chopping up the small swell. We also have Tropical Storm Florence, and she is moving at 40 mph with 50 knot winds in the west Central Atlantic and could add a ground-swell component to our surf late in the work week. Overall surf looks small but rideable at the right sand-bars/tides over the next few days at least.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will remain the dominant feature through much of the week. A tropical wave will drift west near Florida into the Gulf of Mexico Monday into Tuesday while a second wave possibly affects the area late in the week.
It’s 82* and sunny this morning. Look for a high of 86* and sunshine with a chance of scattered showers later in the day.
Water temperature is 84*.
Sunset is at 7:51 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:48 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
