Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, February 7 at 8:30 a.m.
Come check out our wetsuit sale. All full-suits marked down at least 20% and you’ll need one for the next two months.
We are planning to hold the Icebox Open on a weekend with some good waves sometime after Valentine’s Day, so keep an out for the big cold-water showdown!
Surf at the Washout this knee to thigh high with waist high sets in building south-east wind swell.
Winds are south/south-east at 10 knots, and surf zone is bumpy and semi-choppy.
We see winds increasing from the south today at 15 to 20 with a higher gust, and surf builds and stays choppy all day.
We have a high tide at 1:10 p.m., and a low tide will be at 7:23 p.m.
Edisto buoy is reading 5.2 ft. at 5 seconds in building, short period east/south-east wind swell.
We see increasing south-winds and building wind swell today into the chest high range with very choppy conditions. This swell should offer some cleaner leftovers for Thursday morning on the incoming tide as winds go north after a cold front passes overnight. Surf falls a bit on Friday in high angle north-east wind waves. We have a good chance for some rideable, bumpy southerly wind swell as moderate winds rotate on-shore – east to south-east – Saturday into Sunday. We see rideable trade wind swell to begin your next work week, so there is some swell in the forecast.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A warm front will move north through the area today ahead of an approaching cold front. The cold front will move offshore early Thursday with high pressure returning at least briefly, until unsettled weather likely returns late in the week into early next week. Atlantic high pressure will extend across the region during the middle of next week.”
It is sunny this morning and 63*. Look for a high of 68* and increasing cloudiness with plenty of rain in the forecast late day.
Water temperature is right around 52*.
Sunset is at 5:55 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:10 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
