Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Thursday, June 28 at 8 a.m.
Surf at the Washout is thigh to waist high. Maybe slightly bigger in a set. It looks bigger than it has been over the last few weeks. Best for the high-volume board, but it is rideable this morning, and there is a small ground swell to ride.
Winds are WNW at 5 knots and surf is clean.
Look for winds to increase from the south-west at 10 to 15 knots, adding chop to the surf zone this afternoon.
We have a high tide this morning at 8:35 a.m., and a low tide at 2:34 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:10 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 2.6 ft. at 8 seconds in a medium period south-easterly swell.
Surf looks average knee to thigh high today with a bigger set to waist high in a mix small south-easterly swell and south-west wind swell. Surf will be choppy this afternoon. There could also be a waist high longboard wave on Friday morning at the high tide, dropping out with the tide, mid-afternoon. Seas, swell and surf look very small for the weekend, so we are still waiting for our first real swell of summer, and it’s safe to say that June of 2018 was pretty much a bust for quality surf. Surf looks to stay very small for your holiday work week next week, so let’s pray for the tropics to light up in July.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A trough of low pressure will linger over or near the area into the weekend. Weak high pressure will then prevail during the early and middle parts of next week.”
It is 79* with partly cloudy skies. Look for a high of 89* with a 40% chance of a thunderstorm this afternoon.
Water temperature is up to 85*.
Sunset is at 8:31 p.m. and sunrise will be at 6:13 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
