Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, October 24 at 8:30 a.m.
Water temperature is dropping with these cooler temps, so pop in to grab a new vest, spring or full suit. We have lots of neoprene on the floor at Ocean Surf Shop. Come check it out.
Waves at the pier this morning are averaging ankle to knee high. They are few and far between and mostly breaking close to shore.
Winds are north/north-east at 10 to 15 knots. Surf is semi-clean and drifty.
We expect north-east winds at 15 knots this afternoon, and building north-east wind swell late day.
We are just coming off a high tide this morning, low tide will be at 2:18 p.m. The next high tide will be at 8:28 p.m.
The Edisto buoy is reading 3.6 ft. at 5 seconds in a short period, building north wind swell, pushing against an east/south-east swell 1.3 ft. at 9 seconds.
We have small surf in the water this morning, but we do expect high-angled north-east wind swell to begin building just a bit on the high tide late day. This trend continues as drifty wind-swell builds and shifts more east/north-east for Thursday as a low-pressure system begins to impact our marine area. Easterly swell continues Friday as short period wind swell switches more on-shore, and hopefully the wind will switch off-shore late afternoon on Friday, cleaning up high angled easterly swell. For some bigger, cleaner conditions late week, might want to charge down to Central Florida.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “High pressure will prevail into Thursday morning. A low-pressure system will impact the area Thursday afternoon through Friday night. A cold front should then push through the area on Monday next week followed by high pressure into the middle of next week.”
It’s a 58* and sunny this morning. We have beautiful fall weather. Look for a high of 73* and sun all day.
Water temperature is now 73*. That about 10* lower from early last week. Get some neoprene if you are planning to surf this upcoming north-east swell.
Sunset is at 6:35 p.m. and sunrise will be at 7:31 a.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
