Good morning, this is Annie with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Friday, August 9th at 8:30 a.m.
Surf at The Washout this morning is stomach high with an occasional chest high wave. Waves are breaking pretty close to shore as we approach low tide.
Winds are West at less than 10 knots, and surf is clean.
Look for offshore winds throughout the day, shifting to the SW at 10 knots later this afternoon.
We have a low tide at 9:33 a.m., and a high tide at 4:16 p.m. The Edisto Buoy is reading 3.6 ft at 5 seconds in a South swell with Westerly winds. Waves out there this morning, just needs more water. A good number of closeouts, but some fun shoulders if you’re in the right spot. Worth a look in another hour or two as we see offshore winds all day. We see continued trade swell fill in today as high pressure over the Central Atlantic keeps south winds blowing swell in our direction. Surf looks smaller for the weekend with a few longboard leftovers on Saturday morning and fairly clean conditions.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A weak surface trough will prevail inland today. A weak cold front is expected to approach from the north later Saturday, then become stationary over or near our area into early next week. Another front could drop into the area late next week.”
It’s 80* with sunny skies this morning. Look for a hot day with a high of 91* today with mostly sunny skies.
Water temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:38 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:10 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop.
