Good morning, this is Bates with your Ocean Surf Shop surf report and forecast for Wednesday, July 3 at 8:30 a.m.
Come check out all our 4th of July gear that’s filled up the shop to keep you styled out over the holiday week!
Waves at The Washout this morning are ankle-to-knee high. There is an occasional thigh high set, early.
Winds are west at 5 knots, and surf zone is clean and weak.
Look for winds from the south at 10 to 15 knots with chop in the surf zone later this afternoon.
We have a high tide this morning, and low tide will be at 2:53 p.m. The next high tide is at 9:19 p.m.
The Edisto Buoy is reading 1.6 ft at 9 seconds in a medium period south-east swell.
Not much swell at the buoy, and small surf at the beach continues. Surf looks small for the 4th of July, but we should have a slight uptick in choppy south wind swell Friday. The swell drops a bit for Saturday, but should be building some from the south-west into Sunday as a font approaches from the west early next week. Not great, but maybe some bigger choppy surf late in the weekend.
Your NOAA Marine Weather Forecast for our marine area calls for: “A surface trough of low pressure will persist across the region through the weekend. A weak front will approach the region late this weekend and linger in the vicinity into early next week.”
It’s 87* with sunshine behind clouds this morning. We have a hot day ahead with an expected high of 92* and a 20% chance for an afternoon thunderstorm.
Water temperature is around 84*.
Sunrise is at 6:14 a.m. and sunset will be at 8:31 p.m.
Thanks for checking in with Ocean Surf Shop. Pray for surf.
